Introduction
About The Project
The Employment and Social Developments in Europe review (Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion 2021), which shows the diverse impact of the COVID-19 crisis, states that the geographical impact of the crisis has been uneven and may widen regional inequalities that already existed before the pandemic.
Job losses were 5 times greater in rural areas than in cities. This fact confirms the employability disadvantage faced by people geographically excluded. The same review points out that across the EU Member States, the Mediterranean regions were the most affected by job losses.

According to Eurostat (Job vacancy statistics, December 2021) the job vacancy rates in the EU, and especially in countries such as Greece, Italy, and Spain, ranged from 1,7% to 2,4% during 2021, a fact that led to the unarguable conclusion that the competition among the applicants getting interviewed is huge.
From our research within our consortium and being in close contact with our networks of VET institutions, trainers, mentors and VET learners, we spotted an evident gap in the proper interview training and preparation to equip learners to enter the labour market forces. VET learners admit that interviews can be very nerve-wracking, trying to make a great first impression and being able to tick all of the company’s boxes.
Taking into consideration the above-mentioned needs, VET providers, trainers, career counsellors and mentors need to be equipped with tools and training resources to support young learners and especially those who are geographically excluded or/and NEETs, towards their labour market integration.
This will be achieved through their preparation for successful interviews but also through the provision of realistic Interview tools to practice their soft skills but also to get trainerd on the psychological/emotional parameter of an interview.
Our
Target
Groups
- VET providers/trainers, VET institutes and career counsellors, advisors and mentors
- VET Learners, especially long-term unemployed, learners geographically excluded and NEETs
Objectives
provide VET Trainers/institutes/counsellors with an inclusive and interactive interview preparation training material
provide trainers with training skills and material regarding the soft skills needed to thrive in an interview
provide VET trainers with an ultimate simulation interview tool they can use with their learners to prepare them and monitor their progress through customised feedback
provide VET learners with an interviewer with whom they can practise, self-reflect and break the ice of a real-life interview, reduce the levels of anxiety, nervousness, and other emotions that learners/candidates usually face during their interviews
create a structure and thorough dissemination strategy to reach the TGs and create multipliers
Innovation Approach
Originality
01
The AI Interviewer is a unique project result offered as OER to benefit many different target groups.
Technology
02
By analyzing data on a person’s gestures, voice, and movement, such an app could detect important behavioural cues that
reflect the emotions and intents of the interviewee, cues which are difficult to detect through traditional interviews.
Gamification
03
The WP3 offers trainees the option of choosing an avatar with which they will proceed in the interview process, adding a
gamified element to the result.
Self-regulated learning
04
Through a customised feedback report issued automatically after the end of an interview session, each trainee can detect their acquisition of different skills as well as their emotional profile.
Inclusivity
05
The project has an inclusive character since people from disadvantaged backgrounds, as the main TG, can increase their
employment opportunities through proper practice and preparation.
